It's 3 am in the lobby of the Borgata Hotel & Casino

Ok! I confess! I have stayed up until 3 am watching people and making up stories about them. A casino is THE perfect place to study every type of character on the planet! I love feeling validated by Pink's "Ask yourself:"Who Are These People?" on pg.126. Although I realize I'm not the only person who enjoys people watching, I was beginning to worry that I'm a little nuts, because . . . it's 3 am in the lobby of the Borgata Hotel and Casino and I'm people watching! The boardwalk is good, the beach is better, but a casino - jackpot! Other folks are winning millions and I'm content trying to figure out if the wrinkled woman in the leopard spandex jumpsuit is the "toupee guy's" wife or mother. When she smacked him with her orange patent "pleather" bag and pulled him away from the dollar slots, the story I had "written" in my mind needed some serious editing! Anyway - does anyone else in the group love to people watch?

Guilty. Diane doesn't prefer crowds, but I love watching the dynamics as people relate and interact.

Yes!
I don't like crowds and do what I can to avoid the grocery store rush times, but to just sit and watch is different.

My husband loves to go to the mall 12/23 not to shop, but to take in the sites, sounds, and energy.

Go to Vegas for the best people watching in the world! Pink's book did help me a bit with my poker game! That activity with the two faces and telling which one was real and fake did help me to look more carefully for tells in playing Texas Hold Em!

I love to people watch! The beach is one of my favorites. And I've used it as a creative writing prompt before too...nice way to get kids to observe little details.

I agree that the beach is a great place to people watch. It has the advantage of allowing you to sit in one spot under the cover of sunglasses and pretending to read.

Yes, even though I don't like crowds, I do enjoy watching people and thinking about what their lives might be like. However, sometimes I find my own biases get in the way of what I should be looking for. Sometimes we assign postitions or stations in life to people based on how they dress or our immediate reactions to what they say or look like. However, I need to remind myself that I don't know them and therefore shouldn't pass judgement. In reality, though, sometimes it makes me sad to see people in various circumstances and wonder what their life is REALLY like . . .
